Apple iPhone event at 1 p.m. ET will reveal new iPhone 16 models and redesigned Apple Watches.
The company no longer hosts live keynotes. It did, however, invite the press to its Cupertino, California, headquarters to watch a pre-recorded video of the day’s announcements.
Expect the firm to unveil the iPhone 16 family and new Apple Watches. This year’s rumors claim that both gadgets will have larger screens. Furthermore, Apple is expected to reveal more about Apple Intelligence, their new AI that was first unveiled at WWDC in June. Apple’s next software will include certain AI features, such as automatically summarizing texts and notifications.
The main question will be whether there is enough new content to drive upgrades, particularly if Apple raises prices. We’ll provide live updates below, but you can also watch the Apple event’s YouTube live stream here:
Apple iPhone needs to demonstrate that AI devices aren’t a flop.
Apple must persuade customers to upgrade to the latest iPhones and demonstrate to Wall Street that an iPhone upgrade cycle is beginning. One method it will do this is through Apple Intelligence, which the firm revealed in June. Customers can utilize artificial intelligence to generate emoticons, email messages, notes, and other content. In addition, it will use OpenAI’s ChatGPT. However, some of those functions will not be available until the end of the year, and AI devices have so far shown to be a failure.
Apple’s iPhone sales fell 1% year on year to $39.29 billion in the company’s fiscal third quarter, accounting for around 46% of overall sales. “On a constant currency basis, we expanded year after year. So that’s how we see things. From an operational standpoint,” Apple CEO Tim Cook told CNBC’s Steve Kovach in June, stressing that Apple had “redeployed a lot of people to AI that were working on other things,” as well as boosted expenditure on AI and Apple Intelligence.

At the very least, it had twice the storage capacity. Apple Intelligence is presently in preview beta, and some of its most notable upgrades, like as a smarter Siri, are expected later this year or next.
The key information from Apple's media event that will have the most significant near-term impact on the stock prices of both Apple and its supply chain partners are Apple Intelligence updates (such as the official release schedule for the U.S. market, non-U.S. launch plans, and…

There is a ‘Free Speech Area’Apple iPhone
I noticed this “Free Speech Area” sign on my way in. Past Apple events have drawn protests ranging from the company’s China policy to how it handles child sexual abuse material (CSAM.) In June, for example, CSAM demonstrators showed up at the company’s Worldwide Developer’s Conference. And protestors staged a hunger strike outside the Apple Park visitor’s center in December 2022 to speak out against changes that limited Apple AirDrop in China.
We’re traveling to Steve Jobs Theater, where the Apple iPhone event will take place.
We’ve just arrived at Apple’s Cupertino campus and are headed over to the Steve Jobs Theater. Apple often introduces new iPhones on its campus, as opposed to outside gatherings such as the Worldwide Developers Conference. It’s cloudy today.
