A woman and an 11-year-old child was stabbed at a popular landmark in London, and the accused has been apprehended by the cops.A woman and an 11-year-old girl were stabbed at popular London landmark Leicester Square on Monday, the police said. The woman and the child were rushed to the hospital while the accused man was arrested by the police, reported AFP.

Monday’s incident occurred in Leicester Square, a popular tourist destination at this time of year. Police stated the two victims were brought to the hospital. The degree of their injuries was not immediately apparent.

As of now, it is unclear whether the stabbing was related to the recent turmoil in the UK.

Police was prepared for more disturbances over the weekend, but no widespread unrest occurred. Ministers remained on high alert, according to Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s office, and the work to cope with the aftermath from the violence was far from complete.

A security guard who works at TWG tea in Leicester Square, said he intervened to stop the attacker who had blood on his face and chest.

Abdullah, 29, told reporters: “I heard a scream and I just went outside and saw one guy had a knife.

“The moment I saw it I just jumped on that guy and grabbed his hand… and put him down on the floor and kicked the knife away from him.”

He said a couple of other men also came over to help and held the man down for “four to five” minutes, adding he decided to take action because “I had no time, I just didn’t think”.

“It’s horrible to be honest; I’ve never seen anything like that before,” he said.

“To do this to a kid, it’s horrible.”

He added: “I heard a scream, at that moment I saw there was one person, roughly mid-30s or early 30s, and he was like stabbing a kid – I jumped on him, held the hand in which he was (carrying) a knife, and just put him down on the floor and just held him and took the knife away from him.

“Then a couple of more people joined as well, and we just held him until the police came, it took maybe three to four minutes for the police to arrive and then they just took him into custody.”He and his colleagues gave first aid to the child before the police joined in, he said.”I just saw a kid getting stabbed and I just tried to save her. It’s my duty to just save them.”
